Comfort Cough II Cough Assistant with HFCWO
The Comfort Cough II cough assistant is used in both clinical and HomeCare settings to support secretion management. It is suitable for children and adults who cannot cough effectively due to a reduced peak cough flow (maximum cough thrust) and therefore have difficulty mobilizing secretions.
How it works
Secretion mobilization is achieved by a rapid interaction between positive and negative pressure, which increases the exhalation flow.
To make secretion mobilization even more effective, oscillation can be added as an option. The vibration can be activated in 'Auto' or 'Manual' mode during inhalation and/or exhalation. This enables improved and more efficient removal of bronchial secretions and increases PCF (peak cough flow or cough peak flow).
In addition, the Comfort Cough II features the percussor mode. When used via mask, this results in intrapulmonary percussion. When used via the (optional) belt, the vibrations are transmitted externally to the chest (HFCWO principle). This mode is used for secretion clearance and mobilization.
Advantages at a glance
- HFCWO with optional percussion belt
- LCD display with pressure indication as bar or graph
- Preset function for up to 9 presets
- Incl. removable battery
- Suitable for adults and children
- Oscillation during inspiration and/or expiration
- With practical breathing tube holder
- SpO2 measurement via finger sensor
- Display of peak flow and tidal volume
Operating Modes
Auto/Manual:
Manual, automatic or synchronized cough assistance from -70 to +70cmH2O. Oscillation switchable
Percussion
With mask: For mobilization and transport of secretions or removal towards the upper respiratory tract (intrapulmonary percussion)
With (optional) belt: High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFWCO)
Percussion belt in size XS-L (see below)
The HFCWO method loosens the secretion by means of high-frequency oscillation ("deep vibrations") without exerting pressure on the thorax. The viscosity of the secretion is reduced and the patient is helped to mobilize and cough up the secretion.
